Our Mission

The Lynches Lake Historical Society is dedicated to collect, preserve, and make available materials relating to the history of the Pee Dee area of South Carolina. Through a broad range of activities, the historical society seeks to recognize and preserve our local history. In promoting a greater appreciation of the history of the Pee Dee area's heritage, the Historical Society hopes to develop a better understanding of the issues and challenges facing history of the Pee Dee area of South Carolina today.

General Francis Marion’s Men and
South Carolina’s Patriots

This exhibit highlights General Francis Marion’s Patriots and their influence association with defeating the British occupation in S.C. during the Revolutionary War. The exhibit also displays artifacts from the Pee Dee areas Colonial and Revolutionary War periods. The artifacts were either dug or dove from sites associated with the local history of the region.

During the History Fields lecture series, we discuss the development of Lake City as well as the local history of the town. We venture into the history of Lake City two years at a time and invite everyone to come and join in the learning as well as learn more how much Lake City has grown.
