Research Room

This room is dedicated to the historical and scholarly research for all who come in.There are two main Research areas that are designed to help out both individuals, and groups. We have both the Microfilm Room and the HistoricalResearch Room. The latter is our personal Library that has a vast variety of subjects. Ranging from National subjects to local families’ Histories.

Microfilm Room

The Microfilm room is a large conference room that can be used for research but is mainly held for the use of the Microfilm. The Microfilm we have are a vast variety. From deeds, plats, conveyance books, equity rolls, church records/minutes, council minutes, Lake City newspapers, some Kingstree newspapers, and some Scranton newspapers.

Printing is $.35 per Copy
We charge for printing not only to restock paper but so we can be able to continue to support others research in the future
Historical Research

We also have a personal library that contains a wide variety of subjects, such as local family history and other U.S. history subjects. Our Library and Genealogy room are designed to make researching a topic or person easy and accessible in a common area. One of our goals is to help both the student writing a paper on a subject in history, your family tree (and the stories that come from it), or learning and the person looking for family members.
Our other goal is to help guide your research if needed so that once you leave our facility, your research continues to grow, and the skills you learn can be used beyond the walls of the museum. When your subsequent interest in another topic or person pops out, and research is available, you are able to use these skills taught or rehoned.
